Brit. power: Mar. 15-17

All classes were supposed to write an essay (today) about power relations during the British period. The purple group will do so tomorrow (Thursday, day 9, per. 3); the red group on Friday (per. 1); and blue group (per. 4). Next week, we will be finishing the British period. Attaches ta tuques!

Review questions: Power, early British period:
These are the questions we used in class to review:
-What does capitulation mean? When did NF capitulate?
-Who ran NF between 1760-1763? Why?
-When did the British officially take control of France's territory in North America?
-Name the first British constitution for "Quebec."
-What position was the head of government in Quebec? How did he get this position?
-What part of government did he have the power to appoint?
-What does the word appoint mean?
-What were some new legal "freedoms" that the people of Quebec enjoyed after the British takeover?

-Which group was particularly concerned with the British takeover of territory in N.America, in the early 1760's?
-Why were they concerned with this? What did they want?
-Who organized an alliance of these groups? When?
-What means did they use to pressure the British?
-What was the result of these tactics in 1763?
