-go over last week's practice essay (achieving responsible government)
-review the 1840-1867 period (historical facts: political, territorial, economic, socio-cultural)
-review: background reasons to Confederation & first two conferences that led to Confederation
-complete booklet 4: page 1 (read & complete table)
-complete the third conference (London, Eng.)

Wed-Thurs: The "Dominion of Canada"
-analyse three documents: background to Canada's confederation
-notes: Canada's territory (4 provinces) & its new constitution (British North America Act)
-the structure of federalism

-understand: Reciprocity Treaty, 1854: Can-US treaty
-read p. 42-43; complete booklet, pg. 4 ("Economic Changes")

PRACTICE ESSAY:
Topic: Baldwin, Lafontaine & achieving Responsible Government (easy! you know this stuff!)
-class work: analyse documents with partner
-Wednesday: we will write paragraph 1; you will then write the next two paragraphs (to be handed in)

Tuesday & Thursday:
-begin the background to Confederation, 1860's
-read textbook (p. 38-43); answer questions in pink booklet (#1-8)
-notes: coalition & conferences
