Nov. 30-Dec. 3: Review, test, and start Social change in Quebec

Monday:
-textbook pp. 130-139: go through 2nd phase of industrialization booklet question 1-9;
-discuss the comparison chart assigned last week;
-start FIB notes on social change (unions... urban areas...);
-reminder: study for Laurier test 

Tuesday:
-review changes in Quebec (unions, urban areas) and complete questions 1-5 booklet (Part 3: Social Transformation at the beginning of the 20th century)
-Test: 18 short answer questions based on note pages 1-4 and textbook pp. 116-127; see information & review questions posted on Friday in Google-classroom)

Period 1: History 01
1. Review the Laurier period:
-role in the British empire: nationalisms, compromise, Boer War, Naval Issue
-immigration: gov't measures, rise of xenophobia and its effect on gov't policy, result on Canada's territory
 
2. Correct booklet: questions 7-11 (pp. 122-125 textbook)

3. Notes: Laurier's domestic policy (fill-in-the-blank notes, p. 4)

Period 2: History 02
1. Review the Laurier era:
-role in the British empire: nationalisms, compromise, Boer War, Naval Issue
-immigration: gov't measures,  rise of xenophobia and its effect on gov't policy, result on Canada's territory
-domestic issues: minority rights and issues in Canada at the turn of the century
 
2. Correct booklet: questions 12-13 (pp. 126-128 textbook)

3. Notes: Start Second phase of Industrialization, 1896-1929; F-I-B posted in google classroom. I will hand them out to you on WEDNESDAY! IN PERSON!

Nov. 2-6: National Policy Essay (Tues.) and finish Chapter 1; lots of test info, (Nov. 10)

Monday:
-red group: review National Policy (cartoon, posters, textbook pages, documents); complete notes about migration movements in Quebec.
Tuesday:
-Notes: the place of the Catholic church in Quebec society
-red & blue groups: National Policy essay (three paragraphs)

MODULE ONE TEST: NOVEMBER 10 or 12

-21 short answer questions (based on documents)
-topics: Act of Union (change, continuity, territory); responsible gov't (events, politicians, means, change, dates); economic aspects (end of Brit. protectionism, Reciprocity T., domestic market, the National Policy); confederation (politicians, time period, territory of Dominion of Canada); problems between federal & provincial relations (issues, autonomy, inter-provincial conference, the
Métis uprisings) 1st phase of industrialization (industries, characteristics, social change, urbanization, working conditions... here's a link to a slideshow on the first phase... possibly helpful); migration (urbanization, emigration, colonization); Catholic Church's role in Quebec (debate between the ultramontanes & anticlericals).
