Nov. 2-6: National Policy Essay (Tues.) and finish Chapter 1; lots of test info, (Nov. 10)

Monday:
-red group: review National Policy (cartoon, posters, textbook pages, documents); complete notes about migration movements in Quebec.
Tuesday:
-Notes: the place of the Catholic church in Quebec society
-red & blue groups: National Policy essay (three paragraphs)

MODULE ONE TEST: NOVEMBER 10 or 12

-21 short answer questions (based on documents)
-topics: Act of Union (change, continuity, territory); responsible gov't (events, politicians, means, change, dates); economic aspects (end of Brit. protectionism, Reciprocity T., domestic market, the National Policy); confederation (politicians, time period, territory of Dominion of Canada); problems between federal & provincial relations (issues, autonomy, inter-provincial conference, the
Métis uprisings) 1st phase of industrialization (industries, characteristics, social change, urbanization, working conditions... here's a link to a slideshow on the first phase... possibly helpful); migration (urbanization, emigration, colonization); Catholic Church's role in Quebec (debate between the ultramontanes & anticlericals).

WHAT TO STUDY:
-notes (18 pages) 
-refer to textbook: 
-mini-summaries: pp. 37, 53, 65, 83, & 99
-chapter 1 summary, pp. 102-103 (organized into POWER, TERRITORY, ECONOMY, SOCIETY, CULTURE) 
-p. 104: FEDERALISM, INDUSTRIALIZATION and MIGRATION
